One Word 365 (2020)

OneWord2020

The purpose of One Word 365 is to put aside the usual New Year’s resolutions that we never seem to keep. Instead, you pick one word. Just one word that you want to spend the year focusing on and living out… whatever that may mean for you, personally.

My One Word for 2020 is focus.

Focus is both a noun and a verb. It is defined as:
Noun: a center of activity, attraction, or attention; a point of concentration; direction
Verb: to concentrate attention or effort

My word this year is both forms. My focus (noun) will be God.

“Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.” – 1 Chronicles 22:19

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” – Colossians 3:2

But I must also focus (verb). I let myself get so distracted by trivial things. There are three things I need to focus on more in the coming year:

  • God (and what He has called me to do)
  • Career
  • Writing

Some of these things will converge here on the blog. I’ve started on new content that surrounds my tagline: Reader, Writer, Christ Follower. It will come slowly as I put it all together, but it is coming.

Here’s to 2020!

  1. Hi Jessica

Thank you for this post: found your blog as I was looking for a ‘tribe’ on OneWord365 and saw that we picked the same word for the coming year. I would like to focus more on ‘deep work’ and avoid distractions as much as I can. Being a freelancer, this should be helpful for getting things done, and as a result, for spending more time with the people I love.

    Have a good year ahead!
    Zhenya
