I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
I don’t usually review my year’s goals until December, but I’ve been making some plans, and some changes, and I decided to do it now. The short version of the review is that I am behind… on everything.
On Bible Study: I have done it. I haven’t slacked off completely, but I should be doing more. I have a plan in the works to do a separate blog strictly for thoughts and study of my faith. I have a blog basically set up, but nowhere near planned. The bones are there, but not the guts. Once I have it done I’ll link to it from this blog.
On Writing: my novel still sits largely untouched, but not unthought-of. What I’ve realized over the last few months is that, while I have written several thousand words, I am not yet prepared to write it. Earlier this year I joined the Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild. It has been a great learning experience, and I haven’t even used it to its full potential. I plan on using it more. I’m taking a step back and taking time to really learn the craft. Jerry’s Guild is a huge part of that. I’ve also been reading Between the Lines. I bought this book years ago and just skimmed through it. I’m now reading it cover to cover. When I’m done with that, I have plans to read a few more books on writing:
On Reading: I am 10 books behind schedule for my goal of 52 books. In edition to the book on writing, I’m currently reading two other books. After all of those are read, I have fours books to be read for review:
So I have five weeks to finish sixteen books. It will take a miracle, but I’m pressing forward.
Every time I look at my bookshelf I get overwhelmed. I have so many books that I’m looking forward to reading. It’s almost a struggle to choose the next one.
This blog: I’m going to be making some changes. I really want to make this a place for me to share both my love of reading and writing. I’m going to pare down and try to tighten things up a bit, as I hopefully grow great content to share with you guys. Don’t freak out if you come to the site and find it looking a little crazy, because I’ll also be playing with the theme and setup soon.
