The Goodbye Bride by Denise Hunter

Zac Callahan is just starting to get his life back together when he gets a phone call from his ex-fiancé, Lucy Lovett. She has had an accident, and can’t remember the last seven months of her life. That includes leaving Zac just weeks before their wedding.

Lucy doesn’t remember leaving Zac or moving to Maine. She certainly doesn’t remember why she’s wearing a wedding dress when she wakes on the floor of a diner bathroom. Scared and alone, Lucy pleads with Zac to bring her to the last home she remembers, Summer Harbor. Zac’s home.

Despite his better judgement, Zac brings her back and does his best to fight the feelings that come rushing back. Could it be a second chance? Or will whatever made her run in the first place make her leave again if her memory returns?

The Goodbye Bride is actually the second book in the Summer Harbor series, but it can be read on its own. And it is a really good read. I won’t lie, there are some cliché romance novel aspects to this book (we’re told Lucy and Zac’s eye colors at least twenty times as they stare into each other’s eyes throughout the novel), but the story itself is great. The characters have some depth to them, and I personally fell head over heels for Zac.

If you’re looking for a light, entertaining, slightly emotionally novel with a hint of Christian faith, this is a great one. I’ll eventually check out the others in the series.
