400 Years After Shakespeare

Britannica_Shakespeare_Droeshout_Engraving

April 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. I will always have a love of Shakespeare. I was first introduced to Macbeth in grade school, around the age of ten. I absolutely loved it. Next would come Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and King Lear.

I know, I’ve barely put a dent in his work. I never claimed to be an expert, but I hold these plays in such high regard. Where would we be without the work of Shakespeare? I hate think.

I still count Macbeth as my favorite. It was my first, and it blew my mind open.

I’ve also enjoyed some of the  modern retellings in film and on stage.
