One Word 365 (2016)

OneWord2016.jpg     The purpose of One Word 365 is to put aside the usual New Year’s resolutions that we never seem to keep. Instead, you pick one word. Just one word that you want to spend the year focusing on and living out… whatever that may mean for you, personally.

For 2016 my word is JOY.

Not happiness. Joy. The joy that is found in knowing I am a child of God. A joy that can keep me calm and give me peace even in moments of trouble… moments when happiness cannot be found.

As I thought about my one word for the new year, I almost settled on SEEK, because I want to seek more of God. I discovered, however, that true joy is found as we seek God, and yet joy encompasses not just the action, or process, of seeking. It is the entire experience of God. So, my word is JOY!

These things I have spoken to you, that my (Jesus) joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11)

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” (Matt 25:21)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Rom 15:13)

“And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 13:52)
