Attracted to Fire by DiAnn Mills

Special Agent Meghan Conners dreams of one day protecting the President of the United States, and it looks like it could happen soon. First she has to make it through her current assignment: protecting Lindsey Hall, the rebellious daughter of the Vice President. A difficult assignment made worse by the Agent-in-Charge, Ash Zinders. He’s got a reputation for being critical and precise… and he’s completely opposed to women in the Secret Service. As they wait out the weeks on a secluded Texas ranch, the threats get worse. Everything they thought they knew about Lindsey and the ones threatening her is changed as the pieces fall together.

This is the first book I’ve read by DiAnn Mills, and I was pleasantly surprised. When I realized that the categories on the back of the book included not only suspense, but romance, I braced myself for sappiness. I didn’t have to. The book was a wonderful blend… more than enough suspense to keep me hooked and just enough romance to satisfy that hopeless romantic in me. What I loved most is the characters. I cared about these characters and hated to think that one, or more, could be a turn-coat. This was one of those novels that, as I was reading it, I would think to myself, “This could be a movie.” I loved it!
