Today’s devotional was based onGalatians 1:15 – “But when it pleased God…”
The lesson: leaving room for God to work in our lives. I don’t know who originally said it, or even remember where I heard, but there is a saying that goes, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” Based on our own expectations and limitations we make plans for our life Where we want to be in a year, or 5, or 50. We make these plans so air-tight that we often forget to leave room for God and His plans, which are almost never our own. He always has bigger and better things planned for us. So when we plan, and it is our nature to plan, we need to remember that our plans can change if we leave room for God to work in our lives. We must plan for God to move in our lives… but as is pleases Him! He will move when and how He is ready. Oswald Chambers says, “Do not look for God to come in any particular way, but look for Him. That is the way to make room for Him. Expect Him to come, but do not expect Him only in a certain way.” Basically, we need to let go, and let God (another popular saying). We need to get out of his way and let Him work in us and in our lives. He knows the plans He has for us, and they are greater than anything we could ever imagine.
My prayer for today is that I will be more open. That I can learn to leave room for God to work His will in my life, regardless of what my plans may be. I want whatever He wants for me.
